A Method of Coding and Displaying IFF Reply Symbols

Abstract

A further advancement in the coding of I.F.F. systems has been made in order to provide continuous individual-identity information for each target replying to an interrogator-responsor unit. A transponder, on being interrogated, will by means of the coder equipment described herein reply with a series of pulses arranged so that, when received and viewed on a PPI or B type display, letters or numerals will be formed.
