Test Operations Procedure (TOP) 10-2-022B Chemical Vapor System-Level Testing of Chemical/Biological Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) Suits

Abstract

This TOP provides the standard for designing and conducting tests estimating penetration of chemical agent vapor simulant through chemical/biological (CB) individual protective equipment (IPE) suit systems while the suits are worn. Methyl salicylate (MeS) is used to simulate a chemical agent vapor challenge. For the vapor tests, personal sampling devices (PSDs), such as passive adsorbent devices (PAD), are used to monitor chemical concentration inside the IPE suits. Test data are analyzed using a Body Region Hazard Analysis (BRHA) model to provide an indication of the protection levels of the IPE suit systems when exposed to vesicant or nerve chemical agents. This TOP supersedes TOP 10-2-022A, dated 6 January 2014.
