Modeling Uncertainty in Reliability Growth Plans

Abstract

This report outlines an updated approach for reliability growth planning that considers statistical uncertainty on the parameters that are traditionally used to construct reliability growth planning curves. The approach uses a more detailed treatment of the uncertainty, which provides a more complete result when compared to past efforts in this area. The approach can also be used in combination with a reliability assurance test at the end of a test program, which provides improved reliability growth plans that may be more appropriate for the constrained test programs that are common in acquisition.
