Accuracy of Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Systems for the Diagnosis of Mesiobuccal Canal Anatomy of Maxillary Molars

Abstract

Maxillary molars have been well documented to have a high incidence of a second mesiobuccal canal (MB2). The identification of MB2 and clinical treatment of maxillary molar canal anatomy has been enhanced by the technology provided by cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in endodontics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of five CBCT systems for the anatomical analysis of maxillary molars compared to the standard of micro-computed tomographic (micro-CT) imaging.
