Image Analysis and Modeling

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of the research program on Image Analysis and Modeling supported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The objective is to achieve a better understanding of image structure and to use this knowledge to develop improved image models for use in image analysis and processing tasks such as information extraction, image enhancement and restoration, and coding. The ultimate objective of this research is to form a basis for the development of technology relative to military applications of machine extraction of information from aircraft and satellite imagery of the earth's surface.
