Evaluation of Nd:YVO4 and Ho:Er:Tm:YVO4 as Pulse Pumped Q-Switched Lasers

Abstract

This program was designed to develop and exploit rare-earth doped yttrium orthovanadate (YVO4) as a high efficiency laser material. The effort included crystal growth, spectroscopy and laser performance testing. Though emphasis was placed on the spectroscopic and laser properties of Nd(3+) ions, the spectroscopy of Ho(3+) ions with Er(3+) and Tm(3+) co-dopants was also studied.
