A Simple Method of Height Determination Using Fan-Beam Search Radars

Abstract

A simple angle-measurement technique for a 2D search radar is described. Its features are accurate elevation and azimuth measurements which are only slightly effected by multipath and are roll and pitch tolerant. Furthermore, a radar using this technique can be constructed for a relatively low cost.
