Automatic Strain-Rate Controller,

Abstract

This report describes the principle of operation of an automatic strain-rate controller to control or monitor ram rate or strain rate in a vacuum hot-pressing furnace. The system achieves automatic operation with continuous control. This provides smoother pressing at lower strain rates than could be achieved in manual operation, with less attention from the operator. Appendices give details of calibration and operation.
