Calculations of Thermal Radiation Transmission through Clouds.

Abstract

This paper discusses the difficulties encountered when attempting to run cloud transmission calculations using the point receiver estimating function in the POLO program. The spherical surface receiver estimating routine incorporated into a new version of the POLO program is described. Cloud transmission calculations using the two versions of the POLO program are compared for receivers at synchronous satellite positions and for receivers at the cloud top. (Author)
