Incorporating an Internal Mass-Spring System into the Trajectory Equations for a Six-Degree-of-Freedom Missile.

Abstract

This report describes the analysis necessary to extend the existing six-degree-of-freedom missile trajectory equations to include a missile containing an internal mass-spring system. The analysis is divided into two main parts, dealing with the internal mass-spring system alone and with the combined projectile and mass system. This work may be considered an extension of the basic trajectory analysis documented in Picatinny Arsenal Technical Report 3391, June 1966. The major result consists of an additional differential equation describing the motion of the internal mass-spring system, to be added to the basic trajectory equations. This analysis was applied to extending a six-degree-of-freedom missile trajectory computer program at Picatinny Arsenal, and a brief discussion of this is included. (Author)
