Analog Building Blocks for Communications Modems.

Abstract

Three sets of modern building block modules were designed, fabricated and delivered to the Air Force. Each module was identified as a basic functional unit in a majority of modern applications. In addition a Costas demodulator paper design was presented for further evaluation and possible future hardware implementation. Modules delivered included a set of five 70 MHz amplifiers, each with specified gain and bandwidth, a phase-lock frequency multiplier at 4 MHz, and a frequency agile synthesizer with output center frequency in the lower VHF radio spectrum. Included in the study are discussions of the general requirements for each of the four modules as well as test and evaluation of the delivered units. (Author)
