Design of Training Systems. Computerization of the Educational Technology Assessment Model (ETAM). Volume 1.

Abstract

This report summarizes the analysis, design and development activities associated with the Educational Technology Assessment Model (ETAM). It contains relevant background information and results of prior studies leading to the finalized ETAM procedures and computerized routines. A comparison of the manual versus the automated approach is included. Data base structures and the ETAM program flow are described and related to each other. The overall design-of-training-systems objective is to provide Naval Education and Training Command (NAVEDTRACOM) management with additional tools in the form of computerized mathematical models to assist in predicting the quantitative impact of training resource decisions. The planning process will be enhanced by providing decision makers with the capability to economically and rapidly consider a wider range of alternatives.
