Literature Survey and Preliminary Evaluation of Streambank Protection Methods

Abstract

This document contains the results of the literature survey and two preliminary studies of streambank erosion control. Preliminary investigations were conducted to identify the mechanisms that contribute to streambank erosion and to evaluate the effectiveness of the most widely used streambank protection methods. Appendices include: (1) The text of the 'Streambank Erosion Control Evaluation and Demonstration Act of 1974'; (2) A list of commercial concerns that market streambank protection products; (3) A glossary of streambank protection terminology; (4) A detailed bibliography resulting from the literature survey; (5) A listing of selected bibliographies related to streambank protection.
