Experimental Analysis of a New Approximation to the Surge Distribution.

Abstract

A new simplified approximation to the surge distribution of a random process has been proposed. In this paper, the approximation is experimentally checked by computer simulation of both normal and exponential processes. It is found that the accuracy of the approximation depends on the autocorrelation function of the process. (Author)
