Rapid Core Removal Method for Hollow DS Eutectic Turbine Blades.

Abstract

This report covers work performed in a program to develop a rapid core removal method for DS eutectic turbine blades. Fifteen candidate core materials were evaluated by sessile drop tests for chemical compatibility with a molten alloy of the NiTaC-13 composition minus rhenium. Based on the sessile drop test results and preliminary removability studies three candidate materials were selected for removability screening studies using ultrasonic energy in hot water, KOH and NaOH solutions.
