Electrical Excitation of SGEMP Surface Currents and Electric Fields

Abstract

The theoretical response of a cylinder exposed end on to a .001 cal/ sq. cm. fluence of 2-keV x-rays is presented. Then comparisons are made between this response and the calculated response of the cylinder to a direct electrical drive and a capacitively coupled electrical drive. In addition to the usual surface current comparisons, comparisons of surface charges and electric and magnetic fields in space are presented. The limitations of each drive system are discussed.
