Test and Evaluation of Air/Ground Communications Antennas.

Abstract

This report presents data from the evaluation and analysis of a select group of very high frequency (VHF) and ultrahigh frequency (UHF) Air/Ground (A/G) communication antennas. Antenna patterns, gain, and voltage standing wave ratio measurements were made at the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC) antenna range on both Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specified and commercially available off-the-shelf antennas. These antenna data show that improved A/G communications coverage can be obtained with some of the commercially available antennas. (Author)
