Small-Ship HF Distribution System with AN/USC-34(XN-1) for Link 11. Standard Shipboard Components for 2-6 MHz Essentially Meet the Technical Objectives, but Those for 6-30 MHz Provide Poor Isolation of Transmitter Broadband Noise.

Abstract

The characteristics of rf distribution configurations can affect the observable system-level performance of Link 11 communications. This document relates operational performance objectives to technical design criteria for rf distribution systems. It describes the evaluation of a 2-30 MHz rf distribution system most likely to be used with the AN/USC-34(XN01) for Link 11 on small ships. It reports the results of laboratory tests, primarily of isolation performance and intermodulation product generation, of Antenna Coupler Groups AN/SRA-56 and AN/URA-38. (Author)
