Advanced Solid State Power Controller Development. Phase I. Study Report.

Abstract

This report documents the results of Phase I of a two phase program to develop a low cost solid state power controller for USAF aircraft. This study investigated various packaging and interface concepts for solid state power controllers. Trade Studies considered cost, complexity, environmental performance, reliability, and maintainability. The impact of the power controller configuration on the aircraft electrical system was determined. Recommendations on three power controller breadboards to be fabricated in Phase II are made. They include a single phase 5 amp 115 VAC, 3-Phase 5 amp 115 VAC, and 5 amp 28 VAC. (Author)
