Explosive Forming of Butt Welded Pipe Reducers.

Abstract

This program was conducted to develop a method of explosively forming butt-welded pipe reducers. Forming trials were conducted in both carbon steel and 70-30 copper-nickel material. A chart showing the various sizes of reducers that can be formed via this process, and listing the explosive charge size required, is included. Results of burst tests performed on explosively-formed reducers are reported. (Author)
