The Propagation of Focussed Truncated Laser Beams in the Atmosphere.

Abstract

Lutomirski's graphical results concerning the intensity distribution of a focussed laser beam in the presence of turbulence have been confirmed and extended to include annular apertures. We have also considered segmented apertures and present some indication of the likely improvement in focal intensity when the segments are optimally adjusted to counteract turbulence. (Author)
