On Nontrivial Solutions of a Semilinear Wave Equation,

Abstract

The question of the existence of nontrivial time periodic solutions of autonomous or forced semilinear wave equations has been the object of considerable recent interest. The following equation has been studied: u(tt) - u(xx) + f(x,u) = 0, 0 < x < l (or its analogue where f also depends on t in a time periodic fashion) together with boundary conditions in x and periodicity conditions in t.
