An Extension of a Previous Result on the Analysis of a Method of Measuring the Signal-to-Noise Ratio of a Sinusoid in Noise.

Abstract

This paper presents the derivation of closed form expressions for the probability density function and the associated mean and variance when estimating tonal signal-to-noise ratio from a power spectrum obtained as the average of a set of power spectra. Computer programs are described that can aid in experimental design and some possible lines of examination are indicated. (Author)
