A Stark Cell for Frequency Control of a Waveguide CO2 Laser (Une Cellule de Stark pour Controller la Frequence d un Laser C02 a Guide d'Ondes),

Abstract

In this report, we describe the mode of operation and the design of a Stark cell suitable for the frequency control of a local oscillator at 10 micrometers, and we analyze its characteristics. Using this cell, a waveguide CW CO2 laser was tuned over + or - 100 MHz around the line center of the P(20) CO2 line, at 10.6 micrometers, and a long-term frequency stability better than + or - 1.5 MHz was achieved.
