A Methodology for the Evaluation of Alternative Offshore Container Discharge Systems.

Abstract

An analytical model and methodology are developed for the evaluation of alternative offshore container discharge systems. The study utilizes a computer program for a sensitivity analysis and tradeoff evaluations of various technical options, including breakwater systems and motion mitigating crane systems. Preferred mixes of options are presented. The computer model is compared with actual test results. Validity of the computer program cannot be confirmed, but good utility potential is indicated.
