An Experimental Study of the Shock Wave in Free Air From Spherical Charges of TNT and 60/40 RDX/TNT.

Abstract

Results are presented which give information on those aspects of the shock wave which are of the most common interest, namely: peak pressure, positive impulse, positive duration, maximum negative pressure, shape of the pressure-time curve and information on the secondary shock. An equation for the peak pressure-distance curve is given and a comparison of results is made. The values of constants which define the shapes of pressure-time curves are given. All measured values are displayed graphically and photographs of actual records are reproduced. (Author)
