A Scan Line Algorithm for Computer Generated Flight Visuals,

Abstract

A scan line algorithm is presented for the computer synthesis of flight simulation visuals. The algorithm is described in the context of the total image generation process which includes data base structure, viewing geometry and polygon clipping. Within this framework the performance of a software realization of the algorithm is analysed and the relative computational loads of different algorithm functions are assessed. Finally the extension of the algorithm to accommodate shading and edge smoothing is described. (Author)
