An Evaluation of the Relative Performance of Three Infrared Imagers through Fog

Abstract

Early in 1980, a field test of three thermal imaging sensors was performed. During these tests, a Honeywell scanning imager in the 8-12 micrometers band demonstrated superior performance at short range over the other sensors and Schottky barrier staring array sensor in the 3 micrometer band demonstrated superior performance at long range. Insufficient data was available for a complete evaluation; however, a qualitative analysis was performed.
