The Application of Fuzzy-Set Theory to the Burnthrough Range Equation.

Abstract

Uncertainty of parameters in the burnthrough range equation is nonstatistical. Fuzzy-set theory may be a better means of treating such uncertainty than the usual personal-probability (degree-of-belief) approach. Analytical and computer methods are presented and exemplified for computation of the burnthrough range as a fuzzy quantity when some of the radar parameters are uncertain. The methods are generally applicable to any fuzzy equation where suitable substitutions can be made. (Author)
