WHAP, A Finite Element Computer Code for the Structural Analysis of Axisymmetric Warheads Impacting Targets at Obliquity.

Abstract

The development of a finite element computer code for the structural analysis of axisymmetric warheads impacting targets at obliquity is described. Called WHAP (for Warhead Analysis Program), this code is essentially an extension to three-dimensions of the HONDO II code. The theoretical basis for the code, its computer implementation, and its use to solve example problems are discussed. User instructions and other pertinent information are given in the appendixes.
