Optical Waveguide Spatial Filters.

Abstract

Research leading to the development of an Integrated-Optical Spatial Light Modulator (IOSLM) and its utilization as a component in a space-integrating correlator for binary words is presented. Principles of operation, design procedures, and characterization data are discussed. Other uses for the IOSLM are presented and commented upon. The full range of the research-from feasibility experiment through characterization of a 32 Mbit/sec correlator-is presented. (Author)
