Fiber Optic Cable Vulnerability Test, White Sands, New Mexico.

Abstract

Tests were performed at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, to evaluate the response of buried fiber optic cables to the accelerations and stresses developed by an explosive charge. During these tests, observations were made of cable transmissivity characteristics that might be affected by these forces. Transmission bit error rate (BER) measurements were made to determine cable performance changes. (Author)
