Restartable High Power Gas Generator.

Abstract

A requirement exists for a means of providing large amounts of power on an intermittent basis to special airborne systems. The objective of this effort was to demonstrate the feasibility of restartable, throttleable, LOX/JP-4 gas generator which requires no purge. Rocketdyne designed and fabricated a gas generator, capable of producing 15,000 HP when coupled with a 71% efficient turbine. Hot fire tests were performed, successfully demonstrating purgeless operatin, fast start, restartability, hot gas temperature pattern factor, and required power levels.
