Atmospheric Chemiluminescence: COCHISE (COld CHemical Infrared Simulation Experiment) and Related Experiments.

Abstract

This final report includes: (1) a discussion of the analysis of recent COCHISE data relevant to O3 and NO infrared emission; (2) a review of recent FAKIR measurements on the quenching reactions of N2(A) with O2, O and on the formation of O(1S) in the quenching of N2(A) by O; (3) the development and exercising of a model for the prediction of upper atmospheric NO radiation in quiescent and aurorally excited atmospheres; (4) the design requirements for FACELIF, a flow reactor with laser photoexcitation capabilities; and (5) design criteria for color center laser absorption experiments.
