Advanced Mail Systems Technology. Executive Summary and Appendixes A-C.

Abstract

The objective of the effort described herein is to provide technical consultation, equipment, and support services to the US Postal Service that will contribute to the development of the system definition of future electronic mail processing systems. Included in the scope of effort are investigations of high-speed image scanning technology, image frame memory storage, and image enhancement as well as fabrication of a scanner/frame-store memory test assembly. The eighth annual report briefly describes the individual efforts of the reporting period in an executive summary and provides in-depth data in three appendixes: Appendix A, Text Character Compression Study; Appendix B, USPS E-COM Logo Study; Appendix C, NOSC Logo Project Plan for Graphics Conversion Subsystem.
