Life Testing of Rubber Seals.

Abstract

Tests to assess the variation of seal friction and seal life with temperature are described and the results of these tests are presented. Measurements of the pressure distribution under a rubber seal have been made, and the relationship of this to seal performance is considered. Results are discussed with reference to the lubrication properties of different combinations of seals and fluids. Seal condition at failure is also described. (Author)
