500 Contractors Receiving the Largest Dollar Volume of Prime Contract Awards for RDT&E (Research, Development, Test and Evaluation) Fiscal Year 1983.

Abstract

The dollar amounts shown here include prime contract awards over $25,000 for RDT/E work only. Data on awards for other services, such as training, and on any supplies furnished by the contractors in support of research being done are excluded. Contract awards for civil functions have been included in these data. Civil functions encompass planning, programming, designing, constructing, and operating Federal water resource projects for navigation, flood control, hydroelectric power production, water supply, and other related activities. The locations shown in the tables are the places where the work was to be performed. Normally, this is a facility of the concern awarded the contract. However, if the work was scheduled to be performed at a Defense facility, such as an Air Force base, the location shown is that of the Defense facility rather than the contractor. (Author)
