Radar Frequency Selection Strategies.
Abstract
Strategies for improving the radar detection of weak targets are examined. These strategies are based on transmitting a few pulses, selecting a frequency which obtains the highest signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) on a fluctuating target whose position is not exactly known, and transmitting the remaining pulses during mainbeam illumination at that frequency. Some improvement over random frequency selection is obtained on the selected target while a small degradation occurs for other targets located in the beam. (Author)
