Proceedings of the Army Symposium on Solid Mechanics. Advances in Solid Mechanics for Design and Analysis Held at Newport, Rhode Island on 1-3 October 1984.

Abstract

THE Army Symposium, 1984, was the ninth in a series of biennial meetings sponsored by the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center (AMMRC), Watertown, Massachusetts. The symposium consisted of various types of presentations; namely, Keynote Themes; Overviews of related federally ponsored research; full technical papers and a series of brief presentations and discussions of current, but not necessarily complete, research. This document contains the technical manuscripts and the abstracts for the various presentations. Some of the sessions pertained to: New Computing Systems and Their Impact on Structural Calculation; Current and Future Developments of Experimental Mechanics; Overviews of Sponsored Research; Experimental Methods; Modeling Special Effects; Analysis, Design and Reliability; Composite Applications - Design Analysis Test and Evaluation; Special Sessions on Composites; Design & Analysis of Projectiles & Munitions; and Solid Mechanics in Penetration Phenomena. Originator - Furnished keywords include: Ballistics; Engineering; Failure (mechanics); Fatigue; Impact; Ordnance; Mechanical properties; Mechanics; Shock.
