Combat Loads on Modern Fighters

Abstract

This publication includes two papers heard by the Sub-Committee of the Structures and Materials Panel charged with investigating design cases for future combat aircraft. The papers survey the present situation, in which combat aircraft are flown through manoeuvres not envisaged when the design cases were drawn up, and consider what many happen in the near future, and in particular, the influence that active control may exert. Suggestions are made about the way in which the design cases might be formulated.
