Naval Weapons Station Charleston Fleet Moorings Underwater Inspection Report.

Abstract

This report contains the results of the inspection of three fleet moorings located within the Naval Weapons Station, Charleston, SC. Of the three moorings inspected, the Mediterranean Mooring, ARDM-2, and the Auxiliary Mooring's chain were found to be in satisfactory condition, while the Auxiliary Mooring's Buoy was found to be in poor condition. Only 8 of the 13 legs of the ARDM-2 were inspected. The Auxiliary Mooring's Buoy should be removed from the water before it sinks. Due to measurements slightly greater than 80% of original wire diameter, it is recommended that legs C, J, and K be changed out during the next scheduled maintenance period. Keywords: Fleet moorings.
