The Application of Avalanche Photodiode Arrays to Acousto-Optic Signal Processing.

Abstract

The design of the interface electronics for an Avalanche Photodiode (APD) array is discussed in the context of an Acousto-Optic spectrum analyzer. The attainable performance includes a Noise Effective Power on the order of 10 to the minus 14th power W/sq root (Hz), an optical dynamic range of 40-45 dB and a bandwidth of 3 MHz.
