Photon-Enhanced Electron Attachment Processes in Discharge-Opening Switches.

Abstract

Electron attachment data for dissociative electron attachment are reported for several species in the ground electronic state as well as after laser excitation. The experimental apparatus used consisted in a Gruenberg type drift cell fitted with windows for cathode illumination and laser excitation of a volume oriented parallel to the electrodes forming the gap. The time dependent electron swarm population was monitored as a transient voltage as a function of various swarm parameters and laser irradiation conditions.
