Stability Limits of Modified Hilber-Hughes Algorithm for Time Integration in Dynamic Analysis,

Abstract

This report extends the range of unconditional stability of a modified form of the implicit method of Hilber-Hughes. The stability analysis is applicable only to the uncoupled linear modal equations. Tables and curves are presented for a convenient choice of the involved parameters. Keywords: Charts; Collocation; Structural mechanics; Equations of motion; Structural dynamics; Finite elements.
