Measured Probability Density Function of a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) Output.

Abstract

The behavior of the Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) is difficult to describe analytically, especially when noise is present at the input because the system is non-linear. In this report, the noise behavior of the PLL is determined experimentally. Experimental results show that the probability density function of the PLL output for a variety of input signals which are each corrupted by additive Gaussian noise resembles the Gaussian density function. Keywords include: Bandpass, Gaussian, and Gaussian probability density function.
