A Raytrace Method for a Laterally Heterogeneous Environment.

Abstract

The objective is to provide environmental support to system designers and field commanders to accurately forecast pertinent conditions and to make real time assessment tactical conditions. A raytrace technique has been developed to show the wave front path as it propagates through the laterally heterogenous medium where the index of refraction is allowed to vary both vertically and horizontally. This effort is specially geared toward future Navy systems that are presently in the planning stage or under development.
