Coherence Effects in Optical Physics with Special Reference to Spectroscopy.

Abstract

Results are reported of investigation in the area of light propagation and spectroscopy from sources of arbitrary states of coherence. The research undertaken has completely clarified the foundations of the radiometric model. It was demonstrated conclusively that spatial coherence properties of a source influence the nature of the spectrum of the emitted radiation. A number of results were derived relating to effects of a random medium on the state of polarization of light transmitted through it. Keywords: Coherence; Spectroscopy; Radiometry; Red shift; Blue shift.
