On the Equation X(a) + Y(a) = Z(a)

Abstract

An equation is solved for a as a function of X, Y, and Z in terms of a Wright function with negative unit argument. An equivalent form of Fermat's last theorem is given using this function. Keywords: Wright's generalized hypergeometric function.
