Abstract

Blue Springs Lake is located in Jackson County, MO., on the East fork of the Little Blue River, 15 miles east-southeast of downtown Kansas City, Mo. A location and vicinity map is shown on Plate 1, and a general map of the damsite is shown on Plate 2. Drainage area above the dam is 32.8 square miles. At flood control pool, elevation 820.3 NGVD, the lake's surface covers 980 acres, and stores 15,700 acre feet of water. While at multipurpose pool, elevation 802 NGVD, there are 720 surface acres with a storage of 10,600 acre feet. The primary purpose of the project is flood control. Secondary benefits are recreation and enhancement of fish and wildlife. The purpose of this report is to provide a record of foundation conditions encountered during construction and methods used to adapt to these conditions.
