New Light Alloys (Les Nouveaux Alliages Legers)

Abstract

The Lecture Series will review developments in research, manufacture and exploitation of new light alloys (based on Aluminium and Magnesium) for structural applications in aeronautics and space. These new alloys exhibit significant potential for reducing structural weight and are gaining recognition as competitive materials within the aerospace industries. Topics to be addressed in the lectures include: metal physics and processing aspects, properties of existing materials and prospects for future development and exploitation. This Lecture Series, sponsored by the Structures and Materials Panel of AGARD, has been implemented by the Consultant and Exchange Programme. (js)
